Give it a look, and please share this with your friends, Twitterize it or Facebookerize it, and even consider supporting it. Crazy amount of rewards tiers.

NEW YORK COMIC CON!

Journal Entry: Tue Oct 8, 2013, 7:01 AM

Yeah, I wish I could be there! BUT, my art will be there!

For those awesome enough to be there, please go by the
Stan Lee Foundation booth to see my prints for sale, PLUS
an exclusive piece commissioned by SLF to premiere
there! I'll post the image here once the okay is given, and
I can't wait for the world to see it.

I think they are also having a contest to give away a dinner
with Stan the Man himself, so enter that contest, fools!

Grand Prize!

Mon Apr 29, 2013, 7:06 AM by artistjerrybennett:iconartistjerrybennett:
I wanted to let everyone know that I won the grand prize in the Power Rangers design challenge!
Thank you to everyone who took the time to give my design a 5 rating. It paid off!

You can now own the officially licensed design here: www.welovefine.com/5333-rogue-…

And in a choice of colors! :)

I've also been hard at work on Nadir's Zenith #3, and trying to go next level with the grayscale coloring. So far so good. :)
I've also had some HUGE opportunities to pitch my own original graphic novel story to some editors who LOVED it, so I'm pushing hard to get the script done to sub to them. It's been an exciting month!
Free Comic Book Day is this Saturday, too! If you happen to be in Oklahoma City, I'll be at New World Comics drawing free sketches all day! Come on by!

And on May 8th, we all find out if I placed in the X-Men design chellenge. I would LOVE to go to SDCC.

Next Stop: Wizard World Austin!

Journal Entry: Wed Oct 24, 2012, 2:33 PM
Just wanted to let everyone know I'll be at table 2405 at WW in Austin, Texas. I'll promoting and selling two children's books I illustrated, The Pirate Bride and its sequel, The Lost Crew. I'll have sales on my prints if anyone buys the book(s)!

I might do sketch commissions if I'm in the mood. I've been terribly busy with Nadir's Zenith and several tee designs, plus the fact that my wife gets to come with me this time, makes me want to treat this like a small vacay. :)

I will also be at  Wizard World New Orleans end of November, and I'll for sure do sketches then.

Hope to see you there!

This first year for the convention is shaping up to be pretty spectacular, so I've been getting a little more excited every day!

I'll be there with a group of Oklahoma and Texas based comic creators, and I've got lots of new prints for sale there!

Be sure to come say hello!

Denver Comic Con is June 15, 16, 17. (Next week!)

Dear friends,

I have been terribly lackluster in my dA stuff as of late, and I apologize, but some wonderful things are happening, and I'll be able to post with more images soon!
My Avengers design "Avengers Inked" was picked as judges choice by Laura Hudson, editor and article writer at Comics Alliance!

www.comicsalliance.com/2012/04…

Marvel's The Watcher video series mentions me by name here:

marvel.com/news/story/18522/wa…

Thank you to all who took the time to vote for the design! Much appreciated!

I recently returned from Planet ComiCon in Kansas City, and while I did extremely well selling my prints, the exciting news comes in the form of an amazing interview with Nick Lowe, senior X-Men editor over at Marvel Comics! He pointed how how he liked my storytelling and how well the pages I showed him flowed. He emailed me later with scripts I am now hard at work on, when I'm not working on tee designs, Godzilla murals and Nadir's Zenith #2.

Speaking of, Nadir's Zenith is doing rather well! Had a book signing at New World Comics in Oklahoma City, and despite looming tornado threats, I managed to sell really well that day! You can still get the comic online at this link:

www.indyplanet.com/store/produ…

I also have some new tee shirts coming to Teefury! The Giving Treebeard, my Lord of the Rings/The Giving Tree mash-up will be on (drumroll, please.) ...... Arbor Day! How appropriate is that?!  (Friday, April 27th)

More stuff on the way! Thanks for following the madness!

I'm  afraid I can't take any more commissions until later on, after Sci-Fi Expo. I got a really fun, really intensive commission that I'm really excited about. But I will be doing sketch cards at the cons, at least a for certain parts of the day each day, so I hope to see you many of you there!

I never think to tell people that I'll be at conventions, but guess what?!

I will be at several conventions this year!

Will have several new pieces I will have prints to sell (with a new, better quality print and paper!), plus a limited first run of my comic, Nadir's Zenith!

First up is Sci-Fi Expo in Dallas, Texas, on February 11-12. Should be a solid show, with lots of great art and great celebs (half the cast of 'Firefly' will be there!).

I can tell you at this point that I will be at:

-Dallas ComicCon
-Mini A-Kon
-New World Comics (Oklahoma Comic Creators)
-All Con
-Planet ComicCon (Not set in stone yet!)
-A-Kon
-Denver ComicCon
-Fan Days
-SDCC....... not.  (I wish, though!)

I will most likely be doing some sketch cards commissions, and will have some original drawn sketch cards already done for sale, along with some other odd sized drawing, as well. If you have any desire to commission me for any preorders, I'll take around five to ten sketch card commission pre-orders, and if you want something bigger, send me a note and we can talk what and how much.

Hope to see you at one or several of these!

The only thing I hate about promoting this book is that, due to work schedules, this comic might end up being a quarterly-released comic series, but we are going to work hard to put out a quality product on a consistent basis.

We have a Facebook fan page:

Please check it out to get sneak peeks of the current issue and future issues! Plus behind the scenes! 'Like' us! :)

Very excited about this project and can't wait to show you new stuff!

As I'm taking a break from finishing up Nadir's Zenith, a sci-fi comic book series from Jackson Compton, I think about all the crazy amount of fun I've had in 2011, drawing really fun things, learning lots of fun things while drawing, making a bunch of amazing new friends in the comic art community in Oklahoma, and have deemed myself very thankful for all the awesome in my life.
Then I think about all the awesome in store in 2012! Even more conventions than 2011 planned, and lots of, hopefully, really sweet shirt designs on the way, while finding my feet in my first regular comic book series.
Looking forward to seeing amazing art from all you people here and meeting many of you at some of these cons possibly!

All the best!
Jerry

It's very humbling to look at my DeviantArt this morning to find a ton of new watchers and many, many favourites of several of my works. Not quite sure where the sudden noticing of my stuff came from, but I just want to give you a quick THANK YOU for all the kind words and putting me on your DeviantWatch list! I have several new projects coming, the biggest is a sci-fi comic book series from local author Jackson Compton. Very excited about it and hope to show you some pages very soon!
Man, I love these contests DA gets to co-sponsor here! There's the Dr. Pepper mural one, and another one to create a faux movie poster (which is like a dream project for me!). And the prizes offered are amazing. Makes me want to enter every one that comes along!

The only problem is that I can't enter every one. Life gets in the way and I have so many other fun illustration projects that must take priority. That's the way it is. I wish I had DA when I was younger to showcase art, meet so many other like-minded creatives and talents, and enter all these awesome, major-prize filled contests!

I guess if there's anything to be gained by reading this, especially if you are a teenager or college student, it's that you should make the most of the opportunities when they come, take chances, and don't fear failure because it will come. Failure is something the human race should have adjusted to years and years ago, but it still keeps us from taking those chances to either have victory or learn something and be challenged to better yourself as you grow.

I've never liked the whole Nike "Just Do It" philosophy, but it most assuredly works in this instance.

Just do it.

God bless.
I recently encouraged a deviant to fess up to the crime of blatantly referencing someone's art and calling it their own, and I did it in the nicest way possible. I even tried to encourage him, letting him know it looked like he had real talent and didn't need to do that. (I've seen other hacks steal others art and call it their own, and even their versions were crap.) He had responded to me to apologise and to let me know that he had apologised to the artist he referenced, and that he gave the appropriate credit to that artist, not realising the boo-boo he had made. He was just practicing and didn't give the proper credit to the artist. I completely understood that, and wanted to respond back to him and wish him all the best success.

That's when I find out he had blocked me from any posting, commenting, or even writing notes to him.

Yes, he has that right, and yes, he was probably burned by the mass criticizing he had to endure for the oopsie, but to block people, especially those who had his best interests in mind, tells me maybe he wasn't being completely honest with himself or us. There's an immaturity to this response, and it infuriated me.

This is me just griping, so whether this all makes logical sense wasn't the point. Just venting, and i wanted you to know about it.

If you reference someone's work, then give them credit. If you forget, prepare for the onslaught that is us defending us.

And if you make the mistake, fess up, fix it, and move on. Don't block us because you're afraid of similar repercussions arising again... unless you are foolhardy enough to do it again. :)

And if you are purposefully ripping off others, we will find you out and you will pay in blood. The artists here are sacrificing their own blood, sweat and tears to create and let you in on it. We don't go for your type here.
